Why I Created Jewelry For The Cause – Passion For Paws

Anyone who has been around my family for a few minute knows we are HUGE dog lovers. 4 years ago, we were blessed to have been rescued by Keena from a great rescue organization called Passion For Paws. As I have been growing my business and feeling so much gratitude for the new life I now live, I’ve often wondered how I could give back in some way.

I can thank my mastermind group for helping me to come up with this idea. As we discussed ways I could use my jewelry designs to help with various fundraising opportunities, I recalled how much Passion For Paws has meant to me and my family.

My husband was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma 4 1/2 years ago. At that time, our daughter had entered her first year of college and we were enjoying our new ’empty nest’ lifestyle. A few weeks before my husband was to start his 6 week radiation treatment, he told me that he really wanted to bring another dog into our home. We had remembered Passion for Paws from a recent rescue dog event in San Diego and were so enamored with the Akita breed, that we scheduled a visit to their facility the very next weekend.

A Passion for Paws is an approved 501c3 non-profit charity organization and has their Akita Ranch in Romoland, California. They are the only Akita rescue organization in the Southwest United States that takes in dogs on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. They are a volunteer organization and rely on private donations.  At this time, they have saved the lives of over 1000 dogs. They are a no-kill shelter and provide temporary housing while looking for homes for their dogs.

We are so indebted to this wonderful organization for bringing Keena into our home.

I have a new collection of ‘dog lover’ necklaces and $10 from each sale will go straight to Passion For Paws. You can learn more about them here: www.apassionforpaws.org.

Each piece of jewelry is gift packaged in a decorative kraft box and comes with your choice of ‘sentiment’ card. I love all of these sayings. If you have a dog lover in your family, this makes a great, unique gift.

    What a great idea, Theresa!

I’m a dog lover as well — and I’ve always owned rescues. They are the best pets — so loving and full of personality.

Kudos to you for making a difference with your biz!

What a beautiful and reasonable way to help a worthy cause. Just the other night I was tucking our dog into bed and thought of all the dogs that don’t have a warm bed to sleep in at night. I love groups that help animals that aren’t so fortunate! I’m sharing this with a a friend who has a dog site!

What a great idea! Sounds like a great place you got involved with too bringing dogs together with families instead of just putting them down .
